Short Term Missionaries

1. Beacon Light Mission (BLM) Outreach* dates on these first Saturdays of each month: Nov. 4, Dec. 2

  • Meet the bus at the church (FBCD) parking lot at 5:45 pm; bus leaves at 6:00 pm!
  • This event is open to Middlers (6th – 8th grades) accompanied by parent or guardian AND High School & above without accompaniment.*

2. Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF)* & After School Good News Clubs (ASGNC’s) in Downey and other nearby area schools

  • “HOSTS AND TEACHERS NEEDED! 5-Day Club is an exciting, fun-filled 90 minutes held each day for five consecutive days during the summer. It includes: dynamic Bible lessons, creative learning activities, inspiring missionary story, meaningful songs, life-changing Scripture memorization.
  • “HOSTS invite children from their communities. Many of these children will hear the Gospel for the first time, and will have opportunity to receive Him as Savior and know what it means to become a follower of Christ.
  • “TEACHERS (Short Term Missionaries) are usually (but not limited to) high school and college-age. They attend training in how to share the good news with children.

  • “FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR GOOD NEWS TEACHERS: Since this is considered a short-term mission project, the Missions Team would like to assist as needed in covering the cost of the training and materials. Please let Shirley know in the church office, 562-923-1261, ext. 226, if you are interested in participating.”

3. Jill’s House, O3 Weekend Adventures* 2017 date: Dec. 1-3. (a weekend, Fri. – Sun.), mission opportunity in Lake Arrowhead

  • Space is limited; Cost: $60 per person (The rest of the $300 total cost is already paid for)
  • This is a ministry to children with Special Needs and respite care for their families.
  • Any student (16 & up) through adults can “love, serve & connect with children who have intellectual disabilities.”
